What's Coming Up

Welcome to your newsletter for week ending April 11th

It's been a very busy but wonderful end to the term with Easter services over the course of the week and today's fabulous Easter Bonnet Parade. Huge thanks to the PTA team and volunteers for setting it up so beautifully.

It seems a very long time since the darker January days of the start of the term and looking back on everything that has happened in and around school since then, we are amazed at everything we have crammed in!

Thank you to all the parents who have completed the Parent/ Carer Survey and the questionnaire regarding the Mission Statement development. We are keeping both surveys open over the break so if you do have a spare 10 minutes at some point, please do get involved and let us know how you are feeling about BVP! The links are below-

Absences: Illness

Missing a lot of school because of ill health can have a big impact not only on your child’s education but also on how they feel about school. It may affect their confidence, make them feel socially isolated and they may feel nervous about going back to school.

We know it can be tricky to make the right decision whether your child is too ill for school so please see the NHS guidance below or follow this link:

Wishing you all a wonderful Easter break.

SFE Orchestra Gala

We are SO proud of all our pupils who performed Wednesday evening at Birmingham Conservatoire. They were so well behaved and really supportive to the other teams. If you went along to watch, we are sure you will agree they all did themselves justice and represented our school in the best possible way.

On another note, we have a grey lunch box that was left behind at the event. If this belongs to your child, please come and collect it from the school office.

Hopefully, everyone who attended had just as much fun as we did watching our budding musicians perform.

What a lovely week we’ve had in the sunshine. Some of our children have been learning about ‘Respect’, respecting themselves, others and their environment. They had a  great time working together to design and create a ‘Fairy Garden,’ a great time was had by all!

We have attached a link to our 5 Day Mindfulness Challenge that you may enjoy completing with your children during the break. Children can bring some of their completed challenges into school to share with the Team, or send in photos of them taking part in the activities, where they will receive a certificate and prize, we would love to see them! If you are unable to print the resources they can also be completed on plain paper.

Pastoral Coffee Afternoon

Our next pastoral Coffee Afternoon will be taking place on Wednesday 14th May 2.00pm- 3.150m and will be focused on supporting Transitions- how parents can support their children, what we do as a school and additional support we can offer as well as strategies to try. There will also opportunities for parents to share their ideas and experiences.

This means that as a school we consider the mental health and wellbeing of our children as one of our top priorities. We have created a whole school culture that helps build our children's resilience, confidence and self esteem as well as teaching them how to self regulate in those stressful times.

This accreditation badge has been awarded thanks to all the effort our staff, children, governors and parents have put in to bring the lessons of myHappymind to life all around our school!

Year 5

Witty and funny, a diary style book packed with comic strips and doodles of a god trapped in the body of an 11 year old boy.

Year 6

A historical mystery set during World War 2. A tale of Olive and her brother moving from the city to live with a lighthouse keeper.

Easter Egg Hunt!

230 kids hunting 13 eggs in 25 minutes, alongside over 160 ice creams sold ... That makes for a crazy but hopefully fun Thursday after school. Thanks to all for getting involved. Could have been carnage, but we like to look on it as organised chaos, with a side of a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone for helping each other out finding that pesky 13th egg behind the bench!

Easter Bonnet Parade

650 kids, one Easter Hat Parade, plenty of hats, 180 hot cross buns, 60 chocolates brioches, too many teas and coffees to count makes for a lovely end of term. Hope you all enjoyed it as a fitting end to another term.

And finally...

This time of year is an excellent opportunity to reflect on renewal, hope and the joy of community. Our school has been bustling with activity, and we are so proud of our children's hard work and achievements throughout the term. As we prepare for the Easter break, we encourage everyone to take a moment to relax, recharge, and enjoy the company of family and friends. It’s important to find moments of joy and to celebrate the little things, as we look forward to the brighter days of spring.

We have many exciting activities planned for when we return and look forward to seeing our school community continue to grow and flourish together. Keep checking the website calendar for all the information, dates and events that are upcoming in and around school.

Wishing you all a joyful break filled with love and (plenty of) chocolate!

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children’s best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information, and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
