ECO Group Visit to Bournville Park
Recently the eco group met with the Friends of Bournville Park and the Birmingham Tree Group to help plant spring bulbs around the base of a memorial tree in the park.
Although it was a frosty morning the pupils had a great time helping the teams. We are looking forward to teaming up with them again in the next few weeks to plant native tree saplings in the park that have been given to us by the Woodland Trust to encourage wildlife and for community to enjoy as they grow.
World Book Day 06/03/25
Next Thursday 6th March is World Book day. Click the link below for some suggestions and tips for creative costume ideas!
Hockey Tournament
On Thursday, two teams from BVP represented the school in a KS2 Hockey Tournament. For many children, this was their first experience of competitive hockey, and their excitement and enthusiasm were clear to see. Not only did they relish the opportunity to take part, but they also showcased fantastic teamwork, determination and skill – with one team finishing as runners-up in the entire tournament.
A huge well done to both teams – the whole BVP family is incredibly proud of your achievement!
Talent Show for Charity
On 23rd September 2024, we held the BVP Talent Show at the Cadbury theatre, a portion of the contributions were donated to the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group. We raised an incredible £400 for them and wanted to share our thanks to you all.
Woodwind teacher absent
Next Monday (03/03/25) our Woodwind teacher Mrs Taylor will be absent. An email has been sent to those who are down on her list- the lesson will be made up later on in the year.
Music Concerts
This term we will have some upcoming music concerts...
Friday 14th March- Yr 3-6 Guitar & Ukulele Concert. This will be held in the George hall from 2pm- 3:20pm.
Friday 21st March- KS2 Violin Concert. This will be held in the George hall from 2pm- 3:20pm.
As we return to school, we understand from conversations with our families that supporting children after a long day at school can be challenging. This week we wanted to share some information around After school Restraint Collapse. We often hear from parents and carers that despite being told they their children have had a good day at school they are seeing big emotions and behaviours at home. This is not unusual and happens because your child has been busy managing their emotions all day as they navigate the complexities demands and sensory aspects of school life. When they get home, that’s their safe space to let it all out!
If you are concerned about your child’s behaviour at home, please don’t hesitate to contact us for support and advice.
The team can be contacted via email at [email protected] or by calling the main office. Alternatively, we hold a parent drop in session every Tuesday after school 3.30pm-4.30pm in the George Building.

Each week, we will be recommending a book for you and your child to read at home.
Reception
An award-winning tale of exploration and belonging. This bear has an amazing adventure and talent, but what is he missing?
Year 1
A boy who is unsettled by the arrival of a new sibling and turns to helping a tree grow at his local library. With the library looking to close, will he be able to save the place he loves to be?
Year 2
A fan of Maths? This book gets you counting and so much more! You will see everyone is different and most importantly ‘Everybody Counts’
Year 3
This boy has an incredible secret… he can turn into any animal. However, this only happens when he gets worried. Will he find a way of dealing with his amazing superpower?
Year 4
This award-winning book is heartwarming and full of hilarity. Two characters who couldn’t be more opposite, end up realising they have more in common than what they thought.
Year 5
There is only one William! Enjoy his adventures and schemes. As this is as series of books, there is plenty of mischief to read about.
Year 6
Who needs to sleep when you can visit Crater Lake? This trip turns upside down for the year 6 children, hoping to survive an encounter like no other!
We will be on Week 2 next week.
Don't forget to pre-book your child's meal option on Arbor! (even if your child is having a Packed Lunch)
Top Tip: When selecting your meal choice, tick "Pick for all future available dates" to confirm your selection until the end of term!

And finally...
Looking ahead to next week, we have many exciting opportunities for Stay and Learn sessions, the Maths Challenge Grand Final (Y4) and many other events on the horizon.
We encourage you to stay engaged and involved. Your partnership is invaluable in making our school a place where every child can thrive.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children’s best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information, and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
