What's Coming Up

Welcome to your newsletter for week ending January 17th

It's been another busy week in school with usual school routines up and running, helping children to feel settled. Our Values Assemblies are always a really lovely way to end the week and it's always a pleasure to present certificates to children going over and above to show our school values. Read on to see the names of this week's certificate recipients.

Thankyou to families who completed the Parent/ Carer Survey- we had fewer responses than previous surveys but still enough to give us a good indication of how many of you feel about how we do things in school, what is working well for your children and what we can work on. If you gave us your details, we will be in touch next week to discuss your thoughts and queries.

Don't forget that we have our next Parent Voice meeting on Wednesday - in school at 2pm. Please let us know if you are planning to attend. In this meeting we will be focusing on how we can keep families up to date with how children are doing at school and also, how we can keep you better informed with what children are learning. We'd love to hear your ideas so please do come along. We will also be using particular areas in the 'You said...we did' section below, over the coming weeks.

Consents & More...

Can our parents and guardians head to their Arbor app and complete their children's consents. You can find your consents on your home screen under Notices. We will have some upcoming trips and class photos in the summer that we will need you to select whether you give your consent or not.

Can parents and guardians update any missing information that we will need to be aware of e.g. number/ address changes, pupils medical/ dietary requirements etc. You can also find this under Notices.

23% of parents who completed the survey said... they didn't feel that we make you aware of what your child will learn during the year.

We did... a lot of thinking around how we can improve this! We ideally want to make our website the 'go to' for all things school related, including curriculum content, so you can keep up to date with what we are teaching and what we expect your children to know at the end of a unit of work. Using the website would keep things paper-free and we could update info without having to send more paperwork out. However, we know this wouldn't suit everyone and we think parents would appreciate having information about all subjects in one place. If you've got a view on this, or think there's a better way of us sharing details about the subject curriculums, please come along to the Parent Voice meeting on Wednesday or email [email protected]

Number Day and TT Rock Stars changes

On Friday 7th February, the whole school will be celebrating NSPCC Number Day. On this day, we invite all children (from Reception to Y6) to come dressed as a number in any way they choose! Will you wear a football shirt with your favourite player's number on the back? Cover yourself in an odd number of spots? Or even dress up as a calculator? The more creative, the better!

For our KS2 children who use TT Rock Stars, you may notice some changes over the next few days. The app has had a refresh for 2025, with new animations, backgrounds and menu options to choose from! The games themselves won't see any changes, with the exception of Soundcheck, which will more closely resemble the government website that Y4 children will use for their MTC in the summer term. Make sure to update your app through the App store or Google Play store to make sure you're running the latest version. Any problems, please speak to Mr Hall.

We will be on Week 3 next week.

Don't forget to pre-book your child's meal option on Arbor! (Packed Lunch included!)

And finally...

Thankyou to all the parents and family members who have volunteered their time for Jobs January- if you are one of these parents, hopefully you will have been able to book in a slot via Arbor. If you are struggling to do this, please email [email protected] and we can get it sorted.

We hope you all have a good weekend, that the sun shines a little and you get a few moments to relax!

Take care and see you all on Monday.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children’s best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information, and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
