Welcome to your newsletter for week ending July 19th

We're dedicating this week's newsletter (the last one of the year!) to all those we want to say a BIG thank you to, for keeping the BVP ship going steadily in the right direction (through some choppy waters this year!)

Teaching Assistants, kitchen staff, office 'angels!', teachers, site staff, cleaners, volunteers, the finance team, PTA team, Jane the lollipop lady, lunchtime supervisors, senior leaders... are all equal and important parts of the school team and although some are more 'visible' than others, every single person plays an incredible part.

Families, you are a constant source of support, encouragement, feedback (and challenge!) and this year you have been fabulous in helping us get your sons' and daughters' education to be the best it can be.

And finally, children... you are THE BEST! Throughout the year you have shown us resilience, initiative, courage, incredible thoughtfulness, determination, team work, patience and a unified and humble confidence.

So it really does take a village to create and raise a family.

What's Coming Up

Monday 2nd September Inset Day
Tuesday 3rd September Inset Day
Wednesday 4th September Children Return To School

New P.E Hoodies

From next academic year we are giving children an optional addition to their PE uniform. From September, children can wear a hoodie for their PE lessons in their house colour. This is completely optional and by no means mandatory.

If this is something you would like to do, we have sourced a supply from Kids Essentials in Northfield.

They will be stocking our house colours as detailed below and hoodies will be available at a cost of £11.50.

House colours:

Red - Oak

Kelly Green - Beech

Royal Blue - Maple

Sunflower Yellow – Sycamore

Again, this is completely optional and there is no expectation from school for families to purchase anything additional. We just want to encourage and promote our school houses and inter-house competitions within school.

Our Little Princess

We are very proud of Georgia B for donating an incredible 17 inches of hair in 4 pony tails for Little Princess Trust. Her donation will be used to make wigs for children going through cancer treatment.

Georgia is very grateful to all her friends who have donated to her fundraising page. If anyone else wishes to contribute to this amazing charity, Georgia's fundraising page will stay open until the 01/08/2024: https://shorturl.at/4WZqE

This week's winners are:

* ASHA (Reception) - RR

* AXEL (KS1) - 2ES

* ATTIE (KS2) - 3C

School Orchestra

This will start on Wednesday 11th September and be run, once again by our brass teacher Mr Ali. Both Miss Lau and Miss Herborn have agreed to support the children by being part of the orchestra, which is so good of them.

A huge thank you! From Mrs Vaughan

Thank you, parents, for your amazing gift, I promise to send a photo when I go to...

The last 19 years at BVPS (first in the Infant School then joining the Juniors in 2011) have been an utter joy and privilege. My final year has been one of my best and I will be forever grateful to the children for helping to establish such a wonderful musical legacy.

Year 6 you have been amazing and choir (and hand bells) we have had the best year ever! The orchestra has blown us away and the number of children learning an instrument next year is phenomenal. Thank you to all the staff, peri’s and parents who are and have been the most amazing team, we couldn’t have done any of it without you!  I’d like to thank Mrs Cooper, for her vision and encouragement and creating a unique and wonderful BVP family.

The final word however must go to the children! Who’s wonderful singing today will remain with me… ‘Make your own kind of music, Sing your own special song’ …. Wise words indeed.

Thank you all!

Claire Vaughan

Mindful Moment

RainbowWalk: AMindfulness Activity

Take a walk and look for something red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.

Keep going through the colours, in order, until the end of your walk.

Take pictures or draw/journal about at least one thing for each colour. We used painted egg boxes to collect what we found!

Share what you saw and noticed with others.

This week we took our KS2 Group for a  ‘Rainbow walk,’ around Bournville Park, followed by Pooh Sticks and cake! A great time was had by all. Mindfulness helps us to feel grounded in the present, reducing anxiety and promoting feelings of calm and wellbeing.

A in Year5- ‘My favourite part was when we were  talking about what we found and working together to help each other find the different colours in nature.’

Thank You!

As we come to our last newsletter of the year, we wanted to wish our all of our children and families a wonderful summer holiday.

We would also like to take this opportunity to say’ thank you, ‘for all of your continued support.   We have thoroughly enjoyed meeting our parents/carers and look forward to working with many more of you in the coming year.  There are many exciting plans for our pastoral provision, and we look forward to introducing them throughout school from September.

Summer Holidays are an exciting time but as we know it can also bring it’s challenges, with this in mind we have included some links below for advice and support if needed, alternatively you can contact us via email at [email protected].  Please bear in mind that although we check our messages weekly, it will not be daily as we do during term-time. We have included a Summer Holiday Booklet for children to complete if they wish, with challenges, activities and fun ideas.

School's out for Year Six!

What a great last week of term! We focused on helping Year 6 children and parents make lasting memories. The production earlier in the week was a huge success, and we helped feed over 300 of the BVPS family at the BBQ yesterday.

There were definitely some glittery, tired but happy kids (and parents!) arriving this morning.

Parent Feedback:

Here is what some of you had to say about it all:

  • "Phenomenal evening"
  • "Amazing night and definitely one they will remember for many years"
  • "It was an absolute blast for children and parents alike. The children will remember it for a lifetime I think!"
  • "It was just like Glastonbury out there!".

Purchasing Year 6 Production

Year 6 Production is still available on Arbor to purchase. We are using the Wednesday evening production. Please do not share the download link (it won't work) and please do not share on any social media platforms - this is for you, your child and for those close to you that did not get to see it.

Raffle success

Thanks to all that purchased Raffle Tickets on Arbor - we have completed the draw and contacted those that have won prizes. Thanks to Farah for doing a sterling job collecting the prizes once again.

We will soon be setting dates for next academic year. If you have any ideas of events that you think we can make happen in and around School please do not hesitate to contact us on [email protected] and share your ideas - we have got a great team and lots of support from the School - so technically anything is possible!

For now, have a great summer all, and see you in September. David, Veronica, Becki and the rest of the PTA Core Team

And finally...

Today marks the final day for five of our BVP staff family. For Mrs Cotterill, Mrs Vaughan, Mr Adkins, Mrs Brogan and Mrs Movahed, today was a moving and emotional day as they close the door to BVP and begin their next adventures. Georgina, Claire, Robin, Natasha and Lesley, your contributions to our school have been tremendous and transformative. We are going to miss you incredibly. We want to say a huge, huge thankyou for all you have done for BVP. Please remember you will always be part of our village family.

Families, we wish you a peaceful school break. If you are lucky enough to have some extra time with your little ones, make the most of special moments. And if you need anything at all from us over the six weeks, please do not hesitate to get in touch via [email protected]

With love from your BVP family. x

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children’s best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm. If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information, and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
